This qualification is ideal for anyone interested in working with sheep or pursuing a career in the wider animal care and livestock industry. It is also suitable for individuals considering keeping sheep for the first time.

Working with animals requires commitment, reliability, and a strong interest in animal welfare. Designed for learners aged 16 and over, this course provides practical, hands-on experience in sheep care, including feeding, handling, health checks, and general husbandry.

Successful completion of the qualification can support progression into farm and livestock management, animal welfare roles, or further training and study within the land-based and agricultural sectors

What you will learn

Animal Health: Routine health care checks, preventative treatments, foot care, parasite control, vaccination

On farm learning

Learn through hands-on experience with sheep in a real farm environment. Develop practical skills in feeding, handling, health checks, and daily husbandry while working directly with animals under supervision.

This are 1:1 Sessions over 5 weeks

Hybrid Learning

Combining practical on-farm sessions with online theory-based learning to fit around your schedule. Build your knowledge at home while gaining hands-on animal care experience on the farm, offering flexibility alongside the development of essential practical skills.
