Friends of Frampton Farm works with schools, Local Authorities and other education professionals to provide part-time alternative education and external tuition for children and young people who may benefit from learning outside a traditional classroom environment.
Our 26-acre working farm provides a practical, purposeful environment where learners can reconnect with education, develop confidence and work towards meaningful outcomes.
Our provision may be suitable for learners who:
Are experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
Have significantly reduced school attendance
Are struggling to engage with a mainstream school environment
Require additional support following periods of suspension
Need a practical or vocational element within their curriculum
Have SEND and benefit from a smaller, practical learning environment
Require a part-time alternative provision placement
Are working towards reintegration or progression to further education
Every referral is considered individually to ensure that Friends of Frampton Farm is an appropriate environment for the learner.
Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) can result in children and young people finding it extremely difficult to attend or remain within a traditional school environment.
For some learners, introducing education in a different environment can provide an opportunity to begin rebuilding their relationship with learning.
Our aim is not simply to achieve attendance at the farm. We want learners to engage meaningfully with education, experience success and develop skills and confidence that support their longer-term educational journey.
Where appropriate, we can work alongside the school and other professionals as part of an agreed support or reintegration plan.
Friends of Frampton Farm is a part-time education provider, not a school.
A carefully planned part-time placement may provide an additional intervention for a learner who is beginning to struggle with attendance, engagement or behaviour.
Schools can discuss individual learners with us to explore whether practical farm-based education could form part of their wider support package.
For some young people, repeated behavioural difficulties, unmet needs or disengagement can place them at increased risk of suspension or permanent exclusion.
A part-time placement at Frampton Farm may provide a different environment in which learners can experience success, develop practical and employability skills and continue engaging with education.
Placements must be planned and commissioned appropriately by the school or relevant Local Authority and should form part of the learner's wider education plan.
Where appropriate, learners can work towards recognised City & Guilds qualifications and other accredited achievements alongside their practical education.
Our programmes can provide progression pathways through different qualification levels and help learners build evidence of achievement that may support future applications to college, further education, apprenticeships and employment.
We can also offer AQA Unit Award Scheme opportunities, enabling learners to gain recognition for smaller units of achievement.
Friends of Frampton Farm is not a school and does not provide a full-time school curriculum.
Learners typically attend for approximately 2–12 hours per week.
Our provision is therefore designed to form part of a learner's wider education package.
The commissioning school or Local Authority remains responsible for the learner's overall education, attendance, safeguarding and statutory responsibilities as applicable.
Effective alternative provision works best when everyone involved understands what the placement is intended to achieve.

Placements can have agreed objectives and be reviewed to consider the learner's engagement, progress and next steps.
