Friends of Frampton Farm welcomes children and young people who are Electively Home Educated (EHE) and would like to include practical, farm-based learning as part of their education.
Families can contact us directly to explore our programmes — you do not need a referral from a school or Local Authority for a privately funded place.
Our 26-acre working farm provides an opportunity for young people to learn through practical, meaningful experiences.
Depending on the programme chosen, learners may develop skills through:
Animal care
Horticulture
Land-based activities
Practical construction
Outdoor learning
Recognised qualifications
AQA Unit Award Scheme programmes
Our approach can particularly suit young people who enjoy learning practically and thrive outside a traditional classroom environment.
Home-educated learners can work towards recognised City & Guilds qualifications at Friends of Frampton Farm.
We offer programmes at different levels and ages, allowing learners to develop practical skills, knowledge and confidence while working towards formal qualifications.
These qualifications can support a learner's progression into further education, college, apprenticeships or future employment, and can provide valuable evidence of achievement for young people following a home-education pathway.
We can discuss the most appropriate starting point based on the learner's age, previous experience, interests, current level of learning and future goals.
Friends of Frampton Farm is a part-time education provider, not a school.
Learners usually attend between approximately 2 and 12 hours per week, depending on the programme they choose.
For electively home-educated children, parents remain responsible for ensuring that their child receives a suitable full-time education.
Learning at Frampton Farm can therefore form one valuable part of a wider home education programme, alongside learning undertaken at home or through other tutors, groups, courses and educational opportunities./p>
If your child is registered on the roll of a school, you must speak to their school before arranging for them to attend Friends of Frampton Farm during normal school hours. This applies even if your child is currently not attending school, is experiencing difficulties attending, or has been absent for a period of time. While they remain registered at the school, any attendance at Friends of Frampton Farm during school hours must be discussed and agreed with the school.
Parents cannot independently arrange for a child to attend Frampton Farm instead of school during school hours without the agreement of the school and, where applicable, the relevant Local Authority.
If the school agrees that attendance at Frampton Farm could form part of the learner's education programme, we are happy to liaise with them to discuss the proposed placement, attendance arrangements and funding.
Parents may choose to privately fund an agreed placement; however, private payment does not replace the need for the school to authorise the arrangement.
If your child has an EHCP and you are seeking Local Authority funding for their placement, please see our Local Authority, EHCP & EOTAS Funding page.
Most home-educated learners attending independently are funded directly by their parent or carer.
Fees vary depending on the course, qualification and number of hours attended.
Where a learner has an EHCP and the Local Authority has formally agreed an EOTAS or other funded education package, different arrangements may apply.
Please see our Local Authority, EHCP & EOTAS Funding page for further information.
If you are considering a privately funded place, you are welcome to contact us directly.
We can discuss:
Your child's interests and learning needs
Suitable programmes and qualifications
Current availability
Fees
The number of hours you are looking for
Whether Frampton Farm is likely to be a suitable environment for your child
Where appropriate, we can then arrange a visit to the farm before you decide whether you would like to apply for a place.
